Happy Birthday Linsey!!

Today is my niece/godchild's birthday.  She said I never put a photo of her on my blog, so I thought today would be the perfect day!!

She turned 11 today!! She is crafty like her mom and aunt. It runs in our family all the way back to my great grandmother. She has even did a card that is on Clear Artistic Stamps.Click here to see her masterpiece.

Tomorrow she is having her class friends over for her birthday party.  This year we are doing RUBBERSTAMPING!! I have several ideas that I know the children will love to do. I will post photos of that over the weekend.

Bake-Off Contest

On Monday, I entered into a Bake-off contest at a Ladies Guild Meeting. Ladies Guild is for mothers, grandmothers, and alumni of the school. I go as alumni with my sister who is a school mom.

Well at this meeting, they had a bake-off contest. They were judging home-made baked goods by taste, appearance, and original name of dessert.  I was deciding if I wanted to join, but then I said okay, and I put together one of my homemade pound cakes.  The cake is usually done in a bundt pan, and after you butter the pan you stick chopped nuts on the bottom of the pan before pouring in the batter.  Well I realized too late that I didn't have the nuts needed for this cake. So I said well I will make it in a long loaf pan, and if it doesn't come out right, I will just leave it at home. I knew the kids would attack it.

Well it came out of the pan perfect, not a piece stuck in the pan. So then it was time to decide how to decorate it. I went with white frosting.  For decorations I decided since it was a "school" theme bake off I would use confetti I bought for my niece's birthday party. It was of.. YES..the good ole HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.  It has all the main characters that were like 2 inches tall. I attached toothpicks to the back and stuck them in the cake.I had the children that were here after school help me finish it off. It looked very cute.  Then for name, I did SCHOOL SPIRIT POUND CAKE.

I took it to the meeting and it was entered into the contest, with about 12 other cakes. Yes very small bake off, but not many people were at this meeting.  I was totally shocked when they said

First Place goes to.................SCHOOL SPIRIT!!

I received a Blue Ribbon, a spatula and Gift Card to Bath and Body.

I had to say that as being today is 1-23-08. And most of you know #23 is my favorite number!!

This is another idea using Sweet Peach Garden by Clear Artisitic Stamps designed by Belinda Landtoop. If you haven't stopped and checked out her website, now is the time. It has been a hit and there is still FREE SHIPPING.. YES FREE!! until February 1, 2008.  I even saw that the Freckles Bearthday Collector Set is backordered, but you can still order it as more are on the way.

Well if you looked at the previous post you saw I did a nice gift set with tealights in a metal container. But maybe you don't have that type of container, and are having a hard time locating them. Well in this sample I used one of those clear bags that you can buy by the 100's to make s little gift/favor bag.

I used a piece of card stock in the back as the bag is clear. With this card I used my  Giga Scalloped Circle with peach paper. I then used a white piece with the Mega Scalloped Punch. I colored the little girl and basket with Copic and Colored Pencils. I then used a white pen to dot around the larger scalloped circle.

On the tealighs I used an extra larger scalloped circle in the same peach, and a 1 inch white circle. I stamped the little flower on the white circles and colored those in with Copics. I used the white pen to give it a final touch.  This saying is from the Collector's Set Hop into Spring.  It reads, " Flowers for my frineds!"

Sweet Peach Garden

You will be amazed at the different things you can do with Clear Artisitic Stamps. These samplese are all using the Sweet Peach Garden Collector's Edition.

This is a gift set I made with the Sweet Peach Garden Set. For this card I took a metal tin I bought form Gina K Designs.  I then punches Extra Large Scalloped Cirles out in two shades of blue. I then stamped the flowers with the 1 inch punch  and colored then in blues. I then used removable tabs so I could stick them on scented tealights.
I used white sheer ribbon that I purchased in bulk from ebay. 

I then stamped the watering can in blue ink and colored it in with watercolored pencils and some gamsol. I covered the tip with a Sakura Glitter Pen. I tabbed that in the corner of the container.

I then stamped the Thinking of You with blue ink. I used the corner rounder on it. I colored that in also with colored pencils and some copic markers. Finally I tabbed that onto the ribbon.

This could be used a birthday, get well card, just because, or even for a teacher or co worker.

For this sample, I used the Special Edition Stamp Set from Belinda Landtroops Collection called, In a Peaceful Glade. I took white card stock and cover half of it with a mauve piece of card stock. Then I took a piece of white card stock, stamped the flowers all over it with VersaMark ink and then brushed the whole sheet with pink chalk. It gives the paper a decorative look. I then took a smaller piece of white card stock and stamped the flower again with pink ink, and colored it in with pale pink chalk. I used the sentiment "LOVE" out of the Collector's Edition Sweetpea Sweetheart Set, and stamped that with black ink. I used my corner rounder and just used it on two of the opposite corners,for a different look. I used my paper piercing in the corner, which I just noticed you can't see in this photo. And finished it off with prima flowers and a brad.

Now for this sample, again I used just the flowers from the In a Peaceful Glade. This set can be purchased from www.belindalandtroop.com. It is a Special Edition set and ONLY 72 sets were made.

I used the one flower and stamped all four corners with it to make corner borders with them. I then colored those with a Pink Copic Marker. I then found this foam glitter heart in my collection, that I stamped with the flower and colored it also with my copic markers. I punched a extra large rectangle and wrote "BE MINE" with a heart on it.   Very easy and simple card that the recipient will love and cherish this Valentine's Day.

Final Sample for today. For this card, I thought I would try a diferent color combination to see how it would come out. I used Coral, Brown, Light Blue, and White cardstock.  I then used gold embossing powder on it.

First I covered a white cardstock with the coral cardstock, as the piece was not big enough to make a card. Then I took  and used flowers from IN A PEACEFUL GLADE and stamped those with VersaMark in opposite corners iusing gold embossing powder.

I took a piece of brown card stock and with SU Spiral punch, I punched along the top of the cardstock. I then punched 3 extra large scalloped circles out of light blue paper. With a 1inch circle I punched 3 more circles to put in the center of the light blue paper. I then stamped flowers on them with Versa Mark and colored then in with Colored Pencils and Gamsol.  I positioned them on the brown card stock. Last I stamped U R LOVED with Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder. It can't really be seen in the above photos, so here is another photo so you can see it better. 

When I put the colors together, I like how this card came out. 

It can be used for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Anniversary, Get Well, Birthday.

In a Peaceful Glade Samples

All these samples are with using the flowers from In a Peaceful Glade--Special Edition available from www.Belindalandtroop.com   Remember, Free Shipping has been extended until Feb.1, 2008.  Also, available are single quote stamps, so please check the website out.

With this first sample card, I used ivory cardstock as the base of the card. Then with Pink Parchment Colored Cardstock, I embossed the Cuttlebug Script Folder. I used SU punch to give it the notebook effect on the left side.  I used my Sizzix Machine along with my Envelope and Notecard Die.  For that I used Pink paper for the envelope and part of the pink parchment paper to make the notecard. On the envelope I stamped the little flowers from In a Peaceful Glade and colored them in with a Red Copic Marker. I stamped with Pink ink U R LOVED, which is from the Sweetpea Sweatheart Collector's Set.  Last on the bottom right I stamps another flower from the In a Peaceful Glade, and embossed it with Hot Pink Embossing Powder, I used a silver brad to make the center of the flower.

For this card I used a Mauve card stock for the base. I then used a piece of Pink Paper that I used one of the hand  crimper to emboss with hearts on it. I then made a tag our of pink paper, punched a hole in the top and stuck a pink eyelet in there. I then used some of that fuzzy yarn to tie from the hole. On the tag, I used an extra large rectangle punch and stamped LOVE which is from the Sweetpea Sweetheart set. I then embossed with gold embossing powder the flower from In a Peaceful Glade. I colored it in with Chalk. I then put a prima flower with a silver brad for a finishing touch.

Samples and Tutorial

Well i promised you samples so here are some.

This first is a Trivet I made using Wishful Dreams by Belinda Landtroop. This cat shows how I have been lately when it comes to stamping. But then the statement is also true,"Creative Inspirations require a nap", and I have done that when it comes to stamping.  But tonight I was very productive in stamping. Although it did help with me not having my new toy Nintendo DS" to play with tonight. I let my niece take it home, so I would not be tempted. But back to the trivet.

I used this for my Annual Family Christmas Ornament/Decoration exchange. I purchased at Home Depot just plan 8 X 8 white ceramic tiles.  I believe they were like 20 cents a piece, so they are very cheap. I thought I would start big, and then work on making coasters with smaller tiles.

I stamped my image with STAZON ink as it seems to work the best. I did notice that if it doesn't stamp right, you can wipe it off with water and keep trying. Believe me I did this many of times.  After I let the ink dry, I colored it with Sharpie Markers, I tried other markers but they didn't work as good.  I never tried Copics as I just got a beginner set this Christmas from my youngest Nephew.  But after I colored it in, I let it dry and then just sprayed it with a glossy finish to seal it.

This first sample is a combination of Both the Special Edition "In a Peaceful Glade" and Sweetpea Sweethears Collector's Edition.

I used a piece of Pink Cardstock and I scalloped a couple inches off the side. I think took a piece of red cardstock and cut it for the inside of the card, I took white polka dot May Arts ribbon and tied that on.  For the stamp images, the Bunny comes from the " In a Peaceful Glade" and I colored him with colored pencils and a little Gamsol.  I then took some hearts out of the Sweetpea Sweetheart Stamp Set and placed some in the corner and colored them with Red Stickles. On the inside, in the right hand corner I stamped a heart and traced it with a silver gel pen. I then used the sentiment from the " In a Peaceful Glade" which reads, "I'm soft,I'm cuddly, and I'm so cute!" 

This would make a cute Valentine's Day card!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            This next sample is a combination of Freckles Bearthday Collector Set and the Sentiment from the Special Edition "In a Peaceful Glade".

For this card, I took a plain white piece of cardstock, I then crumbled a piece of plastic wrap and sponged Ancient Page Sage on it as a background. I found another piece of green paper and punched the corners with the SU ticket punch. I stamped Freckles on a piece of white cardstock in Ancient Page Sage and colored the balloons in a variety of greens.

I then took the sentiment from the "In a Peaceful Glade" "I'm soft, I'm cuddly, and I'm so cute!"   and used it on this card.  I thought it would work with this cute bear.

I edged it all with Silver Leafing Pen.

This would make a cute card for a child's birthday!
